Detroit is dying. Former automobile manufacturing capital of the world lost 50% of its population. 1950 census counted 1,849,568 detroiters. In 2000 Detroit’s population was 951,270 and still decreasing. Used to be so rich, so beautiful city almost lying in ruins nowadays. Forgotten Detroit website have a big photo archive of urban decay.

Cities don’t “die.” Especially huge metropolitan areas such as Detroit. Detroit is suffering major effects of recession, but like the economy, it will rise again.

Ahhh… No, Race has nothing to do with Detroit’s decline. The cause is purely a matter of Economics, mainly the city’s interventionism.
Well, I have travelled the world and I have been to many cities in the USA.
I’ve been to Detroit and it was really sad, that such a beautiful city is in such decline.
If you look at most major US cities, that are growing, you will NEVER find a decent city with a high black population. Look an Houston, LA, NY, Miami, all these cities have a significant black population, which is about 35%.
And look at cities such as Detroit, St.Louis, Newark (ok, this one is recovering now, but it took a while), Cleveland. Ok, maybe Philadelphia and D.C, with their high population of blacks are not dying, but that is a matter of opinion. D.C. is not dying because it is the capital of USA, but as for Philly, I was not impressed.
I live in UK and I have to say that no matter where you go in the world, as soon as you get into a city with large black population you face crime and poverty. And this has nothing to do with racism. It’s just a human nature. Go to Africa and you will see that blacks kill whites, and they kill each other. They just don’t like peace. Ok, there are millions of educated, nice black people, but they live in nice communities and have nothing against whites. This is why cities such as Miami, LA, Las Vegas, Chicago, etc exist and prosper.
And then again the president of USA is black, and I have to say that Barack Obama is one of the best US leaders.
detroit sucks, because of the economy after the 1960′s riots, and white flight people just didn’t want to do business there because of all the crime, drugs, and corrupt government officials.
I have always been fascinated by cities like Detroit which held much promise but are now an abandoned afterthought. I hope things change but am not encouraged. Corruption, union shakedowns, democrats, high taxes, crime and drugs, apathy, the weather and the death of the american automobile industry have all contributed to its demise.
For anyone who has never had to live in the city of Detroit, you will never understand. When jobs such as police chief, school president, etc come along; they do not ever interview non African Americans Yet they never call this racist, they only say “well African Americans make up over 90% of the city, we need to provide role models”. If the city was serious on rebuilding they would interview the best person possible for the job. Recent the Detroit City Council voted and approved the banning on the question pertaining to “have you ever been convicted of a felony” on all city of Detroit job applications. They are also pushing for all vendors would do buisness with the city of private buisnesses located in the city to ban this on their job applications also. Today, if you look at the city, the african polulation is actualy declining. There are more and more immigrants from Asia (Pakistan, India) Eastern Europe and South/Central America, yet none of these people are afforded a voice in Detroit poltics. Please do not say, well they need to vote. Detroit is so corrupt that these people will never be allowed a voice. In you still want another example, Southfield, MI which is a suburb of Detroit and has a major popluation of African Americans is upset about Detroit residents are fleeing the city and bring crime and dispair with them.True and simple is that Detroit breeds crime. Each year over 10, 000 convicted felons are released from Michigan state and locals prisons/correction facilities, and jails. Guess where the vast majority of them return to live. DETROIT.
Detroit is in decline primarily as a result of the overshoot effects of industrialization. You get too big, you overshoot, you go into decline. It happens all the time, in all sorts of systems. White flight, eroding the tax base, didn’t help either, it left Detroit to people who didn’t have as much money…….because of racism. And we all know poverty breeds things like hoplessness and crime. This is what you get with capitalism, someone is always on the losing end.
Yep, with socialism, everyone is on the losing end.
Enough with you liberal crap. It is the animals that live in Detroit that cause the problem. Look at Japan right now after the major earthquake. You do not see any looting or burning of building. The people still act in a human way to each other. You did not see such positive behaviour in New Orleans, Hati. Why because just like Detroit, when people are raise on a welfare system and is use to living of the backs of people who work everyday; the loafers are never going to be a contributing factor of society. This is Detroit. Heck, even their own city officials refuse to live in the city. This is about race and social standing and don’t even try to deny it.
The truth is it was good intentions of liberalism that caused Detroit to fail. With all of the government handouts and minority favoritism, what was realizwed was a society that depended on the handouts of support of government. There is do reason to better one’s self when just because the color of your skin, you receive a hand from the govermnet or do not even need to be quailifed or competent to do a job; since the quota states you need to be hires and are given preference.
SCREWED DETROIT AND THE ALL THE HOODRATS
Detroit like most of Michigan was sold out by short sighted greed mongers, culturally bred in the higher education institutions of the 60s-80s to exploit, like white plantation owners (busting unions), when it was finally implemented by these former students of privilege, who now presently govern you.
In Detroit, they destroyed the tool makers, then exporting their jobs and then everyone else’s to our “former” enemies.
They betrayed you. Sedition, treason is applicable on their part. Never having to sacrifice their own blood to defend you, they thought only of themselves. Understand your donkeys and elephants are the same stuff, they answer to corporate pirates first. You have to say no to both, because they offer you no true choice, no hope for change.
Look to yourself, use reason as a tool, take refuge in your faith if it helps you sustain your strength and will, in your neighborhoods build community and in our bill of rights and constitution know their vision, it is your inheritance, for now and for ever, it is the best future of us all ( study it’s meaning and take it too heart: it is as much a guide to self governance, as the 10 commandments). Make the change now at the roots. Evaluate worth of leadership by actions alone, rather than by talk. In the short, if you will it, our brown fields of despair, will again bloom new flowers, perennial in the great spirit you command and new days will prosper for us all. Your ability to sustain suffering, is also the same ability to create change. You will make it so, and nothing else. Hold hands and hearts together.
What is the root of the problem in Detroit is stupidity. The unions and the federal government. Both have created a feeling of it is owed to me. Why work when you can obtain something for nothing. Now don’t get me wrong, we need the unions to maintain the middle class and protect the average person from the greed of business. Not every business is greedy, but it is basic human nature to maximize your profit and for many this is at the expense of the average work. What needs to be done is stop paying ignorant people $25/hr to sweep floors. If they chose to perform a menial job, then they should be paid enough to live on and that is it. Why paying uneducated people to spit out children and lazy peope to live off of the government. My next door hood rat neighbor went into th hospital last week to have a government paid abortion. Not only did our tax dollars pay for the abortion, by this week she received a $5,000 check from crime stoppers.
I am going to spit watermelon seeds at you all.

Another Detroit department head lost her job to using money that was earmarked for the poor people and she spent on personal items. This is what is really wrong with Detroit. Uneducated people how get these jobs and then use the city’s money as their personal piggy bank.
Detroit will never recover. Too many years of lazy scum living off of the welfare system and believeing they are entitled to it because of some ancessor they think they have who may have been a slave. Facts 1. 90% of all negroes have a mental condition. 2. They were bred to be stupid and thus it is in their gentics. 3. Kwame “prison butt banger” Fitzpatrick is receiving $8 for every sale of his biography. The book sells for $26. Kwame still owes the city $800,000.00 approxiamately which mean 100,000 copies will need to be sold for him to repay the money he owes Detroit. The fact is, most of the people in Detroit hate him and I doubt they would even buy the book. Second, at a cost of $27 for the book, if if the person likes him, why would they spend that much money for the book. Most Detroiter’s can’t even buy food or pay for housing.
