Light pillar, a marvelous sky phenomenon
It looks like stars are falling from the sky, but unfortunately it’s only a purely sky phenomenon called Light pillar.
To produce this special effect, light and water is all you need. When light, either natural or man-made comes in contact with the facets of ice crystals in the air, usually close to the ground, it does one thing – bounce.
When the source of light is close or on the ground, the light pillar appears above the floating crystals and it looks like a thin column that extends vertically above or below the source of light.
It’s marvelous because it gives us the impression of some sort of transportation beam coming in to effect, particularly when it is at night and the phenomenon is caused by artificial light.
