Pontiac Deluxe Six Plexiglas Ghost Car
The Pontiac ‘Ghost Car’ was built on the chassis of a 1939 Pontiac Deluxe Six. This amazing car was exhibited at the 1939-40 World’s Fair in New York at General Motors’ “Highways and Horizons” pavilion.
In collaboration with chemical company Rohm & Haas, which recently developed a new product called “Plexiglas” was constructed an entire body shell from the transparent acrylic material. In 1939 the cost of this car construction was nearly 25,000 $. In 2011 the car was auctioned by RM Auctions and sold for $308,000.
