The Spanish painter, sculptor, ceramist, printmaker, poet, stage designer, and playwright, Pablo Picasso inspired many modern artists to bring back to life some of his remarkable paintings.

One of them was the Pakistani illustrator, Omar Aqil, who turned 7 of Picasso’s paintings into 3D sculptures. They were digitally rendered and look as if they were physically constructed thanks to Omar’s great eye for textures and shadows. Scroll down and check them out.

Hundreds of sand sculpting competitions are held annually around the world. One of the longest running competitions is the World Championship of Sand Sculptures. This amazing competition has taken place in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia and other varied locations since 1986. The competition includes single, dual, and team categories. Sculptors’ methods can be quite complex, and achievements in this competition are often recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

The ideal ratio for suitable sculpting sand is eight units of dry sand to one part water. In sand sculpting competitions, rules often require that the finished structure is sprayed with a stabilizing coating that keeps the structures safe and sound for several months. Below you will find some the most amazing sand sculptures produced around the world.
