Swiss-Italian photographer Christian Tagliavini created the magnificent portrait series called 1503.
Why 1503? Because it was the birth year of Agnolo Bronzino, who was an Italian court painter for the Medici family in Florence. Christian Tagliavini took amazing photos, which are amazingly similar to Renaissance oil paintings. It is very hard to notice the difference, but it is possible, if you look closely. Exaggerated necks, stylized outfits, translucent skin- all these details emphasize the modernity of the work. Pale, unsaturated tones of printed photos also make them feel more contemporary.
