This is not the first time the artists are turning their eyes to the scrap metals. The idea of giving the old metal parts the new life in a completely new and never ever imagined manner is, apparently, floating around.
American artist Dmitriy Khristenko went no farther or deeper, but smaller in scale. The scrap metals that he uses to built his miniature statues from are the parts of the old wristwatches. Dmitriy is constantly hunting for the old or broken watches through the yard sales and even trash bins.
Dmitriy’s most favorite subjects are the little palm-sized motorcycles. Every watch part has its chance. The steel bracelets forms the tires of the bike-statuette, the crystal goes as the windshield, the winding shafts as the handlebars and the numerous cogs, springs and wheels forms the engine and the other parts of the new creation.
Even the simplest of the statuettes are taking more than 30 hours to assemble, and the common ones are the 50 hours of precise welding and assembly.
