The name of this jumping mammal that’s absolutely adorable is Jeroba and it lives in North Africa and Asia, in both hot and cold deserts including Gobi desert and Sahara desert.
Their erratic jumping is good for evading predators and likely for finding hidden, random food resources, but it’s not very good for their energy because it takes a lot of their energy jumping around unlike other small animals that walk instead. The most interesting fact about these creatures is that they don’t drink water! Other interesting characteristics of Jerboas is that they have an excellent hearing, their diet is based on plans, their lifespan is two to three years and they have a very long tail that’s even longer than it’s whole body! They’re also one of the most trafficked animal on earth because of their scales which can be sold on the black market for over $3,000 a kilogram, and are used to make coats.
