Abandoned 10 years ago, the beautiful and creepy Nara Dreamland park in Japan is the perfect place for photographers because sometimes abandoned places like this are more attractive to capture than anything else.

Nara Dreamland was built in 1961 as Japan’s answer to Disneyland, which had opened in California the previous decade. Towards the end of its life the park struggled with low visitor numbers and was eventually forced to close. Now the sweets in the vending machines are no longer safe to eat and the heart-pounding rides are now as still as the fiberglass mascots which haunt the landscape.

This place is a popular destination for urban explorers. Additionally, many have reported hearing strange noises near the park’s boats. Some speculate that it may be caused by a running water pump or a type of bull frog. Would you pack your bags and check where the sound comes from? If you’re an adventurous traveler you would, but if you only want to check this creepy yet amazing park, just scroll down and enjoy!

You must be wondering why Aokigahara is haunted? Well, the story you will hear about this, beautiful and creepy place will shock you.

It’s also known as Sea of Trees, Demon forest and Suicide forest. Yes, you’ve heard correctly! Suicide forest because of the 500 confirmed suicides there during 1950’s.

Called “the perfect place to die,” this forest is the world’s second most popular place for suicide, because the Golden Gate Bridge is being the first – we will talk about it in some of our next posts.

Legend says that this all started after Seicho Matsumoto published a novel by the name of Kuroi Kaiju or Black Sea of Trees in 1960. The story ends with two lovers committing suicide in the forest so many people believe that’s what started it all.

Located at the base of Mt. Fuji, Aokigahara is undoubtedly one of the creepiest places in Japan. Would you want to visit and explore this forest or would it be too scary for you?

If you are a rabbit lover, Okunoshima will be like a paradise to you. It’s about a small island located in the Inland Sea of Japan in the city of Takehara, Hiroshima Prefecture.

As islands that are occupied by wild animals go, Okunoshima, better known as Usaga Jima or Rabbit Island, is probably the cutest.

Situated in the East Sea/Inland Sea of Japan, the small island is occupied by hundreds of wild rabbits that roam the forests and paths, chase tourists, appear in viral videos and just generally lounge around.

They also provide a much needed counterbalance to the island’s otherwise dark history – as the production site for Japan’s chemical weapons during the Second World War.

Most apartments in Japan forbid pets, so if you are an animal lover and you want to visit Japan sometimes, this is an opportunity to enjoy the company of these cute furry friends on the island.

Sure you’ve seen some of them in movies before and said – “I want one of those”. They’re nothing like our regular umbrellas because they are made from paper but you can still use them on rainy days.

This kind of umbrella subsequently spread across Asia, to Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Burma, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Laos. People in these countries have further developed the oil paper umbrella with different characteristics. Other than the purpose of providing shade, oil-paper umbrellas are also traditional essential wedding items.

In both traditional Chinese and Japanese weddings, the matron of honor would cover the bride with the oil-paper umbrella upon arrival in order to avoid evil spirits. Purple umbrellas are a symbol of longevity for the elders, while white umbrellas are used in funerals. Oil-paper umbrellas are also used as props in Japanese traditional dances and tea ceremonies.

These are only few most beautiful of them. Let us know which one is your favorite in the comments down bellow.

Takashi Kobayashi has built over 120 treehouses in the past 12 years. He is one of the most famous treehouse creators in the world.

One of his best work, named Kusukusu, is the sprawling house, constructed around a 300-year-old camphor tree in Atami, Japan. It was built in collaboration with Hiroshi Nakamura of NAP Architects for the Risonare Resort. Kusukusu is the largest treehouse in all of Japan. This amazing treehouse was completed in March 2014. It is completely self-standing and doesn’t touch the tree, allowing the tree to grow more.

In Japan, the alpaca may be a witness at a wedding. It is such a fun service offered by the hotel Epinard Nasu in Tochigi Prefecture.

Animal lead from the nearby zoo and after the ceremony, you can arrange a whole photo session with it. The Japanese began to formalize the marriage up to the late 19th century and before that, a married couple were regarded a couple in which the man was often a guest of the woman. So alpacas aren’t considered strangeness.

Spanish street artist Pejac created amazing social paintings on the streets of Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong.

By some installations he wanted to disclose political and social problems of those countries, by others he wanted to praise their people and traditions. All those paintings are unique pieces of art and every citizen can look at them and think about many important questions.

A host of movies and documentaries should be enough to tell anyone with aims of donning a costume and fighting crime is a bad idea — but even those aren’t enough to shut down such a romantic idea.

Keeping the peace while in disguise has an appeal that crosses borders and oceans alike; as long as there are superheroes in comic pages and on TV, fans all over will bring them to life. That’s truer than ever, with the infamous Kamen Rider taking to Japanese streets.

While he isn’t exactly being called upon to fight criminals or monsters, environmental artist Shinjiro Kumagaya has taken to donning the suit and riding a replica bike of a bug-eyed hero — just one of dozens based on a franchise (comparable to Power Rangers) that’s been around since the 70’s. His mission is of a more mundane variety: he patrols the streets in search of drunk drivers to report, and his armband actually demands an end to such reckless roadwork. It’s a service to the communities of the Fukuoka prefecture, and in more ways than one; children and fans alike get to delight in seeing a Kamen Rider in the flesh.

Incidentally, this isn’t the first time a superhero has made the news; 2014 saw a picture-perfect Batman riding through the streets of the Chiba prefecture. The key difference this time is that the masked rider of Fukuoka is sanctioned by the authorities as an official patrolman — and apparently, he’s doing a good job of it. Evidently, it’s the best of both worlds; a super fan gets to put smiles on people’s faces as well as serve justice.

It’s an unorthodox approach, but it’s hard to argue with results.

Tashirojima, also called The Cat Island, is a small island in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan on the northern coast of Japan.

The human population there is near 100, but the cats number is more than 800. The cat population is so large due to the local belief that feeding cats will bring wealth and good fortune. It is so from the past, when the local islanders raised silkworms for silk, and cats were kept in order to keep the mouse population (mice are natural predators of silkworms) down. By the way, if you want to visit the Cat Island, just remember to leave your dogs at home as no dogs are allowed on the island.
