If you’re looking for paradise, you just found it and its called Sénanque Abbey! Wondering why? Keep reading!
This Cistercian abbey, located in western Provence, in the hills of the Luberon is one of three beautiful Romanesque abbeys founded by the Cistercians in Provence, France. It’s sublime, solitary setting, surrounded by fields of lavender, and the timeless serenity and honey-coloured stone of the monastic buildings. This makes it one of the most photographed sights in Provence and as we said before a peaceful paradise on Earth.
If you want to visit this place, you should know that this is still a working abbey and visitor numbers are tightly controlled, so little disturbs the abbey’s contemplative calm and the exquisite lines of its 850-year-old architecture. The monks make a living from growing lavender and producing honey, both of which can be bought from the abbey shop. Okay! We’ll stop the small talk and show you a piece of this heaven on Earth!
